Any way you look at it, addiction is an ugly thing. Have you ever had a friend or a relative who became dependent on drugs or alcohol? If so, you know what I am talking about.
You watched as this person whom you loved and respected turned into someone you couldn't even recognize. Yes, on the surface the person looked the same, but the person you once knew was gone. In his(her) place was a stranger that you didn't even care to be around. Anything you said or did, didn't seem to make a difference. The best that you could hope for is that this person would hit rock bottom before too much permanent damage was done....and only then was there a chance for recovery.
That is what "Addiction" is all about. Once the worms of destruction have been eliminated, will the holes in that person's logic heal? .......Only time will tell.
